27 Best & Fun Things To Do In Wisconsin Dells (WI)

Wisconsin Dells, named after the Dells of the Wisconsin River, is a city in the southern-central portion of the state of Wisconsin.

As a tourist destination, it is often referred to as The Dells and is immensely popular for its rocky bluffs of sandstone.

The area was formed after the glacial lake of Wisconsin broke through, creating gorgeous scenery in the process.

Originally, Wisconsin Dells was known as Kilbourn City, named after the president of the railroad company whose trains ran to the Dells area.

That name didn’t stick, of course, due to how commonly people preferred to simply call the city The Dells!

Now, the location is most known for its wealth of resorts and waterparks, catering to a high number of vacationing tourists every year, but there’s plenty of other stuff to do outside of those attractions.

Here are our picks for the 27 best and fun things to do in Wisconsin Dells.

The waterpark spans 65,000 square feet and is a cavern of sorts.

It connects to the next park, the Wild WaterDome.

The WaterDome measures 70,000 square feet in total and contains America’s biggest wave pool, capable of creating five-foot waves.

The indoor space earned its name from its dome-shaped skylight and is suitable for all ages, even boasting rentable cabanas and a swim-up bar just for adults.

The Wild West Waterpark is another indoor waterpark similarly measuring 70,000 square feet in area.

It’s packed with thrill rides, like the famous Black Hole, as well as bumper boats, play structures, water slides, and body slides.

The final indoor waterpark is Cubby’s Cove, which is a small area that you can drive to from the resort’s main area and is a bit of a hidden gem!

Outdoor waterparks at Wilderness Resort aren’t as famously visited, but that doesn’t mean they’re less enjoyable!
